Hi! I'm Heaven. As a girl growing up in Cleveland, OH I spent a lot of time with my grandfather and uncle sailing on Lake Erie. My grandfather and I also spent a lot of time drawing and painting the lakers come in and out of port. When I was a teen my uncle built a model whaler which I absolutely adored watching his progress on, and wanted to try the hobby, but wasn't able to really start because I moved away for college and life went on, as it does.
Recently, I was talking with my partner and showing her some of my grandfather's old navigational equipment and brought up my uncle's whaler model. She brought up the fact that I could take a stab at building model boats and here I am! My current goal is to work through the "shiprwright of old" trio, and I just got done planking the dory and removing her from the frame. Ultimately, I'd like to build a larger sailing ship, but I feel like that might be a long way off! I haven't done a lot of woodworking and this is definitely testing a lot of my skills
I've been relying a lot on forum posts and build logs here for advice so I thought I'd join myself so I can ask questions as needed.
