Hi all,
The kit arrived today (along with a lot of 'toys' for building it) so I suppose I'd better start a build log.
Firstly it's going to be a laborious task in many ways because the instructions are very detailed if you're fluent in German but very limited if you aren't. Well thankfully I can ask for directions, order food, order beer and ask if a hotel has any beds in German so I'll be fine.
The quality of the wood looks to be very good, 3mm ply for the keel and 5mm for the bulkheads but any flex in the keel can be removed up to a degree by installing the deck and pinning it to the bulkheads when I've got the keel held in a straight line. Well that's what worked for me before so why shouldn't it work now?
First job tomorrow is to check everything is in the box and use a pen to mark part numbers on everything before it gets detached from the sheets and then dry fit the bulkheads and deck to see what we've got. Tonight I've got to walk my 5 month old Labrador pup to the pub and have a beer then consider wrapping Xmas presents for my granddaughters though that'll probably be postponed when beer induced build fever catches hold of me 🤣
Photos to follow at some point.
