    Thank you all so much! @TerryPat - I will definitely follow your build log. I took a peek and can already tell it's going to be helpful. I'm on my first planking right now and will be looking at how you approached it! I'll post updates and photos in a build log when I get the chance to create one. Thank you for reaching out @RVB I love Pride of Baltimore! I used to do sunrise runs around the Baltimore harbor, and running past that ship was always one of my favorite parts of the run. I didn't even consider there would be kits out there for it. Amazing. Very cool you used to live in the city!

    Hi everyone! My name is Ellie and I'm excited to give my first project a go. I grew up in the Midwest, moved around the US a bit, and landed in Baltimore a few years ago. I've loved living by the water and took a few sailing lessons when I was new to the city. Sailboats are stunning and I would love to capture a piece of their beauty for my home. I started a beginner's kit (Endeavour by Amati 1:80) before I knew this site existed. I'm so glad I found this community! As a complete novice I'm excited to learn from others while I continue the kit. This is my first time building a model anything, but I've always gravitated toward tasks that need detail orientation and patience. We'll see how it goes! So far I've been enjoying myself. Thanks for having me and I'm looking forward to building with you all

About the NRG

If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.

The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.

The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
