If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.

Hi Ricky.
I'm building the same kit - since last June. I've just finished plating and painting the funnels today. My model also has lighting, something like 150 LEDs and I'm using brass etched parts for walls, windows and railings.
I'm intending to put her in a case and she will be a waterline model so will look as she did on the sea.
I've finished all the decks and houses and am about to start the detailing stage with benches, winches, vents, deckchairs and finally, the rigging.
I've added the strength deck hull plating (homemade using card and a craft tool to simulate the riveting) and all windows are glazed. Some of the visible rooms (cafe Parisienne, restaurant and promenades) are furnished and lit.
I'll try to get some photos so you can let me know what you think. I look forward to following your build and if there are any pitfalls I know about, I'll let you know before you get to them.
