Let me start by telling you the story of how I ended up building this model. My wife and I retired in 2016 and moved to a new home in Cambridge Md. The hull was now completed and ready for things like the Log rails, railings, cutwater, head rails, bowsprit, and a few others to be added.
First the cutwater was produced from the template supplied with the kit. Some modifications were made because of inconsistencies. It was then glued into place. The log rail was cut to length and scuppers were sanded into them with a dowel that was wrapped in sandpaper. The height was doubled for a short distance both fore and aft to support the
