GAFF AND BOOM As with the mast, I made the gaff and boom out of pear, again using the dimensions given by Steel, as well as by Biddlecombe in his 1848 book on the Art of Rigging. The photo below shows the CAD drawings I made for the dimensions. YARDS Similarly I made the yards using Steel’s dimensions, and used a template to put the battens around the yards.
