Shrimp Boat by Robert952 - Lindbergh - Scale 1: 60

I finished this build a few weeks ago.

My brother's friend died after battling cancer.  They ran a shrimp boat around Beaufort and Hilton Head, South Carolina coast.  My brother asked if I could build him a shrimp boat model as a tribute.  I had this model on the shelf and my brother said it was perfect.

I warned him that it would be a clean paint job with no weathering.  I need to relearn that skill set.  In fact, general painting skills had some relearning curves and still need more practice.  (I can't recall the last time I built a plastic model of anything.)

The model itself is simple enough.  I added some black tulle as a shrimp net and stained a basswood 'plaque' from "Hobby Lobby" for the display base.  I used only one crew member from those supplied with the kit.  He's in the pilot house with a gold wheel.  The friend's name was Troy and he went by the moniker T-roy (tee-roy).  Hence the name of the boat.

The model now sits on a shelf with a couple of photos of Troy.
