Dad's ol' Crabbin' Skiff (Chesapeake Bay)

I always wanted to try and reproduce one of our old boats that we had when I was growing up. There were many different types but this seemed to be the basic build of most of them. I built this skiff from memory (as far as I "can" remember it) .
The boat is 1/12 Scale and is made of pine strips bought in a local Arts & Crafts store. The detailing is all hand made from pine, balsa, plastic, metal and of course...duct tape.

The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.

The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build.
