Hi Stuart, I have finally purchased the HMS Warrior but work and travel keeps getting in the way of me making a start. I did contact the Prop shop for a quote on a brass prop and they asked if it was a 70mm prop. I'm in Brazil right now and can't check. Do you think that's the right size? I may contact the suppliers of your prop if I can get them a carved sample.

I'm taking the time before I start to consider putting a motor in it.

Stuart,
How did you do the caulking on your deck timbers? It looks quite effective.
Also, any updates on your brass prop? I may be looking for one myself in the future.

Stuart,
Might not be cheap, but could the Prop Shop do you a suitable prop in brass?

Dominic,
I thought the deck colour was significant to the overall look of the vessel when I visited her. A sort of MDF colour (not that I would use MDF ) but I'm not sure how you could get that 'silver grey' colour. Anybody have any clues.

Stuart,
Glad to be of help. Keep up the progress report with pictures and hopefully I can use them to assist me.

Stuart,
I've sent you a couple of photos I took during a recent visit to HMS Warrior. Apart from the mustard orange coloured mast, one of the most notable colours was the bleached timber deck; almost an MDF grey colour. Can you let us know if the kit tries to replicate this? If it doesn't, does anybody know what would be a suitable timber to approximate this?

Incidentally I've placed an order for my kit but it won't be available until mid March.

Stuart,
Okay that sounds like good advice. When I get home I'll start on the prop to get one cast.
As for the motor; I think it will be straight forward electric as steam powered is a whole other issue. I will however try to fit a water vapour smoke generator. It will go a long way to explain why the sails are not set.
