    Was just looking through some posts and saw that one of your builds was the Dorothy.  I have always thought I would like to tackle that someday and have all of the books that I know of on the Dorothy but no plans.  Did you obtain a nice set of plans for this? 

     

    I am located in Roanoke but was very close to some of your members in the past, both of which are now gone.  Marvin Bryant and Tom Tragle.  Did you know these folks?

      Yes, I knew Tommy and Marvin very well. They were good mentors to me. What I have on Dorothy is a combination of NNS&DD drawing number 2 and the reconstructed plan drawn by Bill Fox. I can certainly get you a copy; they don't exactly match but you can work out the differences. Here is a fairly recent image of Dorothy--it should be finished in about a month.

The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.

The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build.
