  1. l'Etoile - Billing Boats

Etoile and her sister, Belle Poule, are training vessels for the French navy. They were built in 1931-1932 and the Etoile was launched in July of '32 at Chantier Naval de Normandie at Fecamp. Etoile is identical to the Iceland fishing schooners of the late 19th and early 20th century. Etoile is a topsail schooner whose square sail on the foremast has a unique roller furl system that can be set, reefed and furled from the deck.

  2. Lilla Dan - Billing Boats

Built as a training ship for a Danish shipping company the Lilla Dan is a beautiful throwback to a bygone era. A 35-meter topsail schooner built in 1951 by J. Lauritzen as a training ship. She has been with the company ever since. Taken out of service as a training vessel in 1996, the Lilla Dan was completely renovated and put to work as a charter ship.

  3. Marie-Jeanne - Billing Boats

According to Billing Boats, the Marie-Jeanne was a tuna boat of the Dundee class of about 50 or 60 tons. She is rigged as a yawl and carried a 12 man crew. She is fitted with out-rigger poles that trailed lines for trolling tuna.

I named this model after my wife whose first and middle name is Cheryl and Anne. Buying ship models after this one has never been a problem...

  4. Bounty - Billing Boats

My rendition of a very popular subject. The colour scheme is derived from the Bounty replica that went down on the east coast in 2012. She visited Victoria in the 90's and I was taken by the colour scheme. Although the kit lacked some details, I added some to make the model a little more authentic.

  5. H.M.S. Unicorn

Despite what Corel claims, HMS Unicorn was a 28-gun Lyme class sixth rate of the Royal Navy. She was ordered to the draft of the French privateer Tyger. She and her near sister Lyme were the first true frigates built for the Royal Navy.
HMS Unicorn was built at Plymouth Dockyard and launched in December of 1747. She was completed in July of 1749. HMS Unicorn served mainly in the Mediterranean and saw active and continuous service during the Seven Years' War. She was paid off in 1763 and was broken up at Sheerness Dockyard in 1771.
