  1. It's the J Class yacht Endeavor built for T.O.M. Sopwith to compete for the America's Cup. Why would Occre offer this model when Amati has had the same thing available for years? Very puzzled
  2. Good Monday morning fellow builders, I'm assuming many of you received the email announcing their new Occre kit release on June 8. From the photo in the email, I think I know what the offering will be but I'm interested to hear what others think and have to say about it. - Ogontz
  3. A big hello to all fellow ship Modelers out there. I'm considering the La Gloire from Mamoli as my next project but I've heard some cautionary tales about the quality of their kit instructions. Has this improved since Dusek has taken ownership? I'd hate to spend that kind of money only to be stymied by confusing instructions. Thank you for any opinions offered.
  4. Well, Occre just released the USS Missouri and if you can manage to part with $938 (on the Occre website) it can be all yours!
  5. Greetings Fellow Modelers, I was looking throughout the site for some info about the new release from Occre - I didn't see anything so I decided to start a thread. From what I've seen, the October 9th release is touted as "the biggest battleship ever built". From that description, i assumed it was the Japanese battleship Yamato. But further on in Occre's description, they all but tell you the subject is the USS Missouri because of the "historic surrender ceremony" that took place on her decks. The two descriptions don't jibe but that's okay i suppose. Looking forward to this release and hoping the quality is at least as good as their Prinz Eugen offering. If anyone has further info, we'd enjoy hearing it.
  6. Thank you for the change mtaylor
  7. I apologize for messing up the date of the release in the title line. It should read 4-28-2024
  8. Well, here we are again with another Occre release barely 2.5 months since their previous release of the San Felipe. It is the French Frigate La Belle Poule. Built in 1/90 scale and just under 43 inches long. The kit is comprised of 6600+ pieces and it's being offered on Occre's website for $562.99 U.S currency. I haven't seen it being offered on Model Expo's site as of 1:30pm. I believe this ship was best known for transporting Napolean Bonaparte's ashes from Saint Helena back to France
  9. Thank you very much for the finishing tips - very well appreciated!
  10. Also, what type of clear coat did you use?
  11. Thank you for the detailed steps in the process! Would I purchase the polyester finishing putty at an auto supply store? And other than where noted, are you using the wet/dry paper in a dry state?
  12. Hello Cbill, A beautiful model to be sure! What product and method did you use to achieve such a flawless high gloss finish on the hull and topsides?
  13. Hello James H, I rather liked this new Occre release bc of the balcony style stern galleries - we don't seem to see this very often these days. But now having seen your Panart work of art, I'm inclined to rescind my approval of Occre's rendition. I think we've officially crossed over into a time that unless we're willing to pay close to or above $1000, the kits that we plebians can afford will be of diminishing quality in both design and materials.
  14. Mike Montanese - you were correct! Well done. Model Expo is offering the kit for $499. 99 with a free set of Occre paints and stains as well as free shipping. The model itself is 32.5 inches long
  15. It very well could be! It's as good a guess as any. I'm hoping Occre will issue another hint or two before the reveal
