    And a few days later, cut a hatch in the deck. Added the bowsprit and the staff in the rear as well. Been traveling alot for work lately, so progress is stop start.

    This is only the second wood ship kit I've built, and by far the biggest. During COVID I built the Model Shipways launch and enjoyed it. As I've always been fascinated with sailing ships. Previously I've built mostly aircraft and some armor, preferring to stick to old and hard to find kits, and trying to make a silk purse from a sows ear. I've been learning quite a bit, like read the instructions, then read them again. Anyways, been plugging ahead with La Pinta. It's been fun, making many errors, and enjoying fixing those errors. Cheers!😉

The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.

The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build.
