  2. thanks, I will take into consideration all that you guys suggested. um my budget currently, I would prefer not to spend over $80.
  3. what website can I go to get kits by Midwest products/ model expo? and thanks for suggestions
  4. hi, I am new to building model ships, and I was wondering if you guys could suggest some cheaper kits that I could use for practice. i would like to avoid spending a bunch of money on something nice, because I don't have any practice at all with planking and building the hull etc... thanks in advance for any suggestions.
  5. well, the name would be hms supply because I found her plans on here, however probably won't call her that. I kind of like the name hms furry.
  6. I will attempt to get the book at some point. thanks for the suggestion, Rich. since Allanyed seems to have jumped right into scratch building I think I will attempt to continue with what I have started before getting a kit. but for when I do get a kit can you guys suggest like a really cheap kit for practice. I don't want to spend a lot of money on something that's for practice.
  7. and just so everyone knows what I'm talking about when I say frame. sorry for the bad pics but it's hard-to-get good pics with my laptop.
  8. Okay, I don't have any experience with building wooden models, besides paper and popsicle stick boats. it's a scratch project and it's about 9 1/2 inches long. I am hoping to accomplish learning to build model hulls first. I would've built bigger but don't know how to build bigger hull pieces yet.
  9. Okay first off, please forgive me if I posted this in the wrong spot I didn't really know where to place it. I have started attempting to build a small frame with the tools I have available right now, these include a speed rotary kit, which I've been using to cut pieces, and an X-acto knife. are there any other tools that might work better? and when all the pieces are cut where do I start with the hull planking?
