    I would check carefully the placement of the gun ports. I thought I was dead on but it turns out they are a tad too high. Very minor but annoying. I was going to use other woods in the build but Chuck convinced me to stay the course and use the kit supplied wood. Good advice. Although I have built many models this is my favorite by far. I'm about half way done. I replaced the ships wheel and obtained 2 flags from the ships era. The biggest and best replacement was the figurehead. I had a fellow carve me one out of boxwood. It is superb. Good luck with the build. Any questions you have fire away. John

    Hi Guys Is it possible to harden hobby putty that has been made not to harden? It is oil based. Thx for any input you may have. John

The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.

The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build.
