  1. This model build looks similar to my Skipjack kit from Wye River. Same type of construction done around the Chesapeake around the 1800 -1900s. My kit came with a similar assortment of wood and miscellaneous parts. The plans were in the “The Skipjack” book by Steve Rogers. Many colorful photos in the step by step instructions. I purchased this “kit” to hone my skills before attempting to build a 48” Skipjack from Calvert Museum and SIMBC. I modified the Wye River plan to convert it for Radio Controlled sailing.
  2. Sal I recently finished a kit for a Skipjack model. It did not have any help to make it a RC controlled Sailboat. It took me a little effort to figure out how to accommodate the servos to make it a sailing boat. I looked up the Nordkap model and watched a YouTube video about the build. (very helpful). But not RC config. I then went to https://www.historicships.com/product-category/model-kits/radio-controlled/ this website had some not sailing boats that had RC Controls. You may be able to research some of their models and builds to find information that would aid you in adapting this model to be usable in the water - not just for show. Good Luck
  3. Thanks for the response. In 1981 I joined the Solomon Is Model Boat Clib and purchased their Skipjack (48”) plans. A new job kept to busy for the next 20 years. Now I am finally getting started. However, being cautious, I decided to start building something smaller as a learning exercise. This lead me to Wye River Models and their kit (22”). I am learning a lot about techniques, tools, glues, etc. The plans are not for an RC sailing version, so I am learning on my own regarding a lead keel modification, where it should be located and how much weight and resistance is needed for the Skipjack to sail properly. All suggestions would be appreciated.
  4. Great photos for far. I am building this Wye River Skipjack also. I want to modify it for Radio Control sailing. Do you have any helpful links?
