    To all those who have replied to my original post with greetings and suggestions; a sincere thank you. I am going with the unanimous opinion that the Enduance and Beagle would not be a good starting point. Sounds like sound advice. With my goals toned down a bit, I am going with the Vanguard HM Sherboune. An attractive (can one call a ship attractive)? ship with what would appear minimal rigging and a wealth of on-line videos along with people here that are quite willing to help.     Greetings, I am looking to build my first ship model and the choices are plentiful! I am new to this hobby, but not to precision building, (harpsichords). The choices that I am looking at is the Endurance, Beagle, and the Albatross is a distant third. Any thoughts about the brand? I am leaning towards Occre, but that is based only on their website. I suspect that every person has there favorite brand and for various reasons, but I need to start somewhere. I have enjoyed reading the forum and log pages. A lot of very talented craftspeople out there and I am a bit in awe of you folks. Thank you

The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.

The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build.
