  1. The Liquitex Basics Acrylic Fluid—-“Ivory Black” gives a nice satin finish. I’ll have to evaluate it in the sun light before I set sail tomorrow. As Always Best Rick
  2. 3rd coat and set aside to dry overnight before final sanding and final ivory black coat.
  3. Bare wood exposed and masked with 1/16” vinyl pin stripe tape where rub rail will attach.
  4. After shaping the fantail (sprayed with brown primer before sanding)found a low area and needed to refill with Modeling Paste and set up to dry.
  5. After shaping the Fantail Stern filled interface and fantail with Modeling paste to be shaped when dry.
  6. Got up this morning and started sanding the filler and then primed it with Liquitex Gesso which is a superb primer and also available at Michael’s. Reefed my sails and am sitting back and enjoying the day. Best Rick
  7. Thanks to all of you for the kind encouragement. Will lift anchor in the AM and start boat cleanup. Will post photos in my log when finished. As Always Best to all of you! Rick
  8. It hardly smells so you may like it. It also spreads like whip cream. Michaels also has great acrylic artist paints that in my opinion are better than Tamiya and Model Expo and come in a wide range of colors. They are Liquitex Acrylic Basic Fluid (professional artist paints). When you use them they don’t leave brush marks and are very reasonably priced ($6.99) and you always have a 30% coupon. If you look at my Bluenose log you will see how nice they are. Best Rick
  9. Fun day today. Finished planking then sanded the hull. Covered 1/2 the hull with Artist Loft Modeling Paste from Michaels. Modeling Paste works great as a filler and sands out very smooth. I filled 1/2 for the photo and will fill the other before I turn in so they dry overnight. Best Rick
  10. Have no fear with the glue it will sand off in the end. Brian remember it’s always better to have it securely bonded than fall off in the end ( especially with white glue). A little extra glue also fills small openings. I use white glue more than CA because every time I use it, it sticks to everything (esp my fingers) except the part you are gluing which proceeds to fall off. We all have experienced this Best. Rick
  11. Got up this morning and decided to lay over in port. Next to where I was anchored locals were planking a boat in dry dock and they asked me if I wanted to pitch in and help. Since I was here for the day I joined in. After a full day of hard work it’s time to turn in for the night and prepare to resume my adventure tomorrow. As Always Best Rick
