  1. Yes, this model has 2 more boats (1 on the side and 1 on the back of the ship). The author apparently decided not to use them in his model.
  2. Thanks to everyone. Yes, the drawing a) is presented in the book SEAMANSHIP in the age of sail by John Harland. Here is another drawing presented in the book Modelli Navali by O.Curti showing the launching of a boat in 1850: About drawing b): i found a model HMS Beagle with rigging based on this pic. However i'm not sure if it accurately represents the actual ship and the era. One of the books that heavy cargo (provisions and cannons) was loaded onto ships this way. This model does not include the rigging of the boat. This is the author's idea. And I am trying to find out how close it is to reality.
