I share your frustrations with AL, my very first kit build ever started at the end of February with their Atlantic tug kit purchased from the local model shop, the ABS hull was warped, the rudder missing and a lot of the parts just generally badly made and cheap and nasty, plus some very questionable designs for some parts rendering them weak and likely to break easily, don't even get me started on the lack of edges to keep water out of the access hatches. Anway I got there and it's now completed with a lot of deviations from their plans. I'd seen the Rosegarth kits made by Mobile marine models in the UK and thought about one for my next build, however I found one on ebay from a charity shop, and I could not be more pleased with it, i had to replace the electronics with modern kit but it retains it's 12 volt car heater motor for propulsion.
