  1. A shame that the Miranda plans have never been corrected; I bought a set in 1981 and they had all these errors then. I tracked down the designer at the model engineering exhibition that year and gave him (very politely) a list of the problems (bulkheads not symmetrical, slots don't line up etc). He was very off-hand about it... It didn't matter to me so much; having cut out the frames and keel I "built" a hull by covering it in several layers of parcel tape. I then put the steam plant in and lowered it into the bath. It capsized and sank instantly, confirming my suspicions that I would need to scale the model up. So I redrew it 1/3 larger and corrected as I went along. I agree that the frames are too far apart. I planked in 1/8" mahogany and steamed the first few very thoroughly to make sure they followed the correct line, especially on the mid-ships section where it's fairly straight. Very easy to get a slight S bend on the long unsupported run. Dummy ribs were added after, in lime.
