  1. You're catching up to me quickly, Paul! I'm currently sanding the hull in preparation for the planking. Only a couple of steps ahead. I should post again tonight on progress.
  2. Very excited to follow along, Paul! The one thing I've learned (I'm only on step 21) is that I need to really study and research each step. I didn't sand the the inner stern transom so it would sit flush, and I should have sanded the false deck a little so I didn't have to use so much force. But I'm grateful for these errors, so I will hopefully make less! happy building, Paul!
  3. I started sanding the hull this evening. I’ll start light on the first side then see how a plank lines up. I hope I get this right so the planking goes well.
  4. Excellent, Paul! I look forward to sharing this adventure with you! I will do my best to keep this log updated. Following the other build logs on this site is a tremendous resource.
  5. I recently finished my Model Shipways Dory and loved the new experience. I have chosen the Vanguard HM Armed Cutter Sherbourne as my next model. I was so pleased with the ordering and delivery from the UK to Texas. Had the kit in 10 days and the packaging was impressive. I was able to work on the kit for over 4 hours this past weekend which was great. I’m very impressed as a beginner by the quality of this kit and its instructions. that with the YouTube videos has instilled some confidence in this novice! I had a hiccup installing the false deck. I should have sanded the slots a little so I wasn’t so heavy handed pushing into place. It caused a little fracturing on the right side near the slots. But it’s sitting flush so I think it will be okay?
  6. Spent plenty of nights in my 20's at The Cellar, Keith! Great times!
  7. Greetings, I'm 49 years old and live in Fort Worth, TX. I have been building models most of my life. I got heavily into RC Cars and airplanes in my 20's and 30's but with kids, there is little time to play with these machines. My wife needlepoints every night and I've been jealous she has a productive hobby she can unwind with in the evening. I was always intimidated with the thought of wooden modeling, but after reading quite a bit on MSW, that there was access to this hobby starting as a beginner. My first purchase was the Model Shipways Grand Banks Dory. I have nearly completed planking the hull, and I love it! I know this is an entry kit, but it has me very excited to finish this one up and move onto my next project. MSW seems to be the perfect spot to have landed with lots of resources and helpful experienced builders. Cheers MSW! I;m so exited to have found a new hobby!!!!!
