Can anyone tell me if the gun tackle and breeching rope were tarred that were used on nine pounders around 1773?

Thanks

Paddy,

I'm no expert on this, but my understanding is that only standing rigging gets tarred. Any line that is going to be worked is left natural.

Thanks for Tom. That makes sense. I was guessing but thought as you state although I'm new at this. Thanks again.

Hi Paddy,

None of the gun tackles were ever tarred mate, on any guns, not just the 9 pounders.

hope that helps.
