Rc sailing square riggers

Dear model builders

Square riggers always fascinated me. I have built many over the years.  But...just having them sitting on a shelf did not please me enough. So I had to make them rc controlled.

The spanish ship is a model kit of the San Juan Nepomuceno. The model is not realy suitable for working sails.  So i removed the sail winches and added a motor under the hull.

The other ship was supposed to become HMS Victory . The project was abanded and I did receive the hull from a friend. As HMS Victory it would also not work out as a propper sailing rc model and I closed the lower gun Deck for heavier Ballast. So I decided to built her similar to the HMS Bellona. I just use it as a reference. This model has turning sails, no keel and no motor. The rudder has been extended with plexiglas.  The sailing tests on the second model have been very promissing.  The Rigging needs to be completed as well as lots of Deck Details.

I hope you might find these models interesting.

Best Regards

Adrian
