    Hello Mark,

     

    because I'm building the HMS Dragon from 1760, I believe that this ship is actually the Dragon. If you look at the stern carvings, there are two dragons and at the balcony is the batch of the Prince of Wales. At those times the later Georg III. Wales has a dragon at there flag and in there mythology are two dragons, who fight each other. 

     

    If you take the draughts, then the draught of the dragon is nearer to the model than that of the Thunderer/Hercules. The Hero has the same draught and did't fit the model. 

     

    I wrote this also some years ago to the NMM, but never get an answer. In the museum the model is labeled as a ship from 1760. May be the only thing they really know. The Dragon was launched also that year.
