Angarfather got a reaction from popash42 in Statenjacht Utrecht by Angarfather - 1:36
Thanks to Patrick and all the likes!!
@Patrick It depends on whether I find a suitable tool. Otherwise I make my own scrapers.
I have used this tool to make the profile rails.
The mainrail is 2mm. For this job I have made a scraper by myself.
This day I have finished the bullwark on maindeck.

Many thanks for all your kind words
Frist I had some problems to make the bricks. I tryed to model they from wood, but that looks like firewood for the fireplace. At last I remembered a forgotten box with restovers from railway modelling long time ago. And in it I found three varietys of brickwall paper. Exactly what I was looking for.
And this is the coloured fireplace. I did use Oxid of Chromium (green) Raw Sienna and Van Dyk Brown. As a friend of mine ( his is an restorer himself) says are this colours which are used for such decorations in the baroque.

@aviaamator: the right diameter should be 1,5277 mm. First I have made the handle from 1,6mm brass. But that doesn't look good to my eyes, therefore I have made it from 2mm
We had a wonderfull Christmas Evening and Christmas Day with our children and six grandchildren. And so its good to grandfather to relax some times in the dockyard before the next celebration will start in the evening.
Now some pictures from modelling the fireplace.
Tomorrow I will look for the right colour. It will be a specuial green.

In the next few days I still get some dishes . Then the door can get ist the handle and the hinges.
Under the LED Light in my dockyard the colours looks absolute terrible, I think.

Many thanks, guys, for your very kind words! I very much appreciate your nice words,
To bring in the curtains of the alcove was an very special job to do. My Admiral did cut and iron the parts. But to work with textile isn't a job to me. The Curtains on starbord.
Next I have made the lower part of cabins cupboard.

Next job was modelling the cabin doors.
To make the door handles was no big problem. I did solder a 1mm brasswire into a 2mm brasstube.

The crew mess is done, and so I can install the deck beams above. A particularly interesting point for I had to make the frame of the the skylight.
After some thought, I'll plank the deck only on the starboard side. So the interior is still to be seen. Therefore I have the knees of the deck beams on the portside installed from here. The frames of the wals of the Great Cabin Cheers Hartmut -

Thanks guys!
Making the interrior.
First I made the crew's mess to exercise. The walls were built in the carpenter manner.
At first the base and the stems, which are then filled with plywood.
Messdoor To find out the right color scheme is not so easy. In the Baroque intensive colors were typical . According to historical sources, and also the pictures from the construction of the replica I use carmine red, cadmium red, light yellow ocher, dark green and prussian blue. This colours were combined with gold at the Statenyacht. After several attempts I did now use tempera by Schminke and Lucas. Carmine red for the stems, cadmium red for the walls and yellow ocher for the floor in this area Cheers Hartmut -

Almost three weeks I had some trouble with pneumonia. No fun for an old boy. But now I am better and the modelling will go on. Slow but with fun.
The deck beams from the bow to the mast.
That's the time to make the pinrail. The woodparts are from 5mm pear and the sheaves from 6mm brass. Some steps in modelling the nail rail
Cutting and drilling the sheaves
Ready
From here to stern I will modell the interior of the ship. Crew mess, staircase and than the Great Cabin.

Modelling Gianna or Aga I had used 0,50 / 1mm planks. At the Utrecht I use pearwood 12mmx2mm.To work with this kind of planks was a new experience. They are very hard and difficult to form.
Now the outsite planking is finished. Here are some pictures from yesterday.

ere is a little update.
I have the transom again revised. Because of the strong grain of the wood the planks angle is barely visible. As said earlier, I will represent the caulking after grinding. Overall, it's an entirely different matter 2mm thick planks to shape and install. In my other models I have double planked hulk. And the plank thickness was only 0.75 mm.
Here the current results of the work

Hi Mateus,
Thanks for your post.
The angle of the planking was taken differntly according to the sources known to me. In the 16. and 17. century and at larger ships the shipwrights have taken that in the way you drew it. At the Staatenjachts especialy in the 18. century are angle from 15/20 degrees to perpendicular in the historic drawings to be seen. At the replica Utrecht is it approximativ 8 degrees, and in Dr.MacArdles drawings perpendicular. Espacially at the Staatenjachts it seems to be rather an aestheticle as an constructiv
element.

Keel and stems are in place. There were some pieces of wood, therefore I have made the rudder of it.
sawn
sanded
Next step was to mortise the timber transoms in place, and planking the square tuck. In addition, this work should be made well before planking.
to model the Wing transom was a nice and fiddly job.
The finished square tuck

This had been the frames after glueing in the fillers.
After this there were some hours of sanding .
The bowsection after first sanding.
During installation of the bow the laser was a good help again
And thats the Utrecht after many hours of dust and noise. But I think that it could be reasonable certain usefull

Since the beginning of May was little time for Utrecht. Some rather interesting jobs took precedence.
But something was still managed in Angarfathers dockyard. Some pics from the way To make the sternsection was a most interesting job. The outside after first fairing Fairing the inside Aligning the components prior to assembly That's Utrecht today. Cheers Hartmut
