Thanks for your quick reply to my question. I am new to this forum and it has taken me some time to get my bearings and to navigate all the topics. I have located your build thread and several more that I will read front to back for help. I have just placed my order for this kit. Hi Gary. I guess I got here a little late. I just joined this forum a few days ago but it was great to be able to read your log from the start. You have produced a beautiful model and I am sure to be referring to this log many times in the future.

How does your son feel about varnish? Without some kind of clear finish, the raw wood will become a dust magnet. I think that redheart would really be great with a deep gloss finish. A rubbed oil finish might nice too but I can't see how you could get all of the surfaces rubbed.
That is a nice looking hull you are building. I love hull shapes and it easy to spot something out of order. It looks like you have got it right. can't do better than that.
