    Hi Richard Cutty Sark has long been a favourite of mine. When I was a very young man, I was given a Revel kit that I began assembling, all the while embellishing to make it more realistic. Unfortunately, it was accidentally destroyed. I started toying with the idea of a 1:50 scratch build. This was over thirty years ago. I started creating scale drawings using Harold Underhill’s drawings and reference material from Longridge’s book. Unfortunately, life got in the way. Lately, my interest has been re-kindled since seeing her in the UK a few years ago. My current thinking is to develop frames from a reliable 3D file, 3D print them, then plank then hull. My modelling software of choice is Autodesk Inventor. Would you be prepared to make your computer models available?

The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.

The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build.
