  1. I just got my first kit, the HMS Snake from Caldercraft. I noticed in the kit there was a form that can be mailed or faxed (apparently they haven't heard of online registration) to register the kit, and get any updates mailed out if they exist. My question is if anyone here is familiar with the kit, do you know if there are in fact updates to this kit that I should register for, and then wait until I get them before starting the kit? Or are the no current updates for the kit and I'm good to go? I'll still register anyway, just wanted to make sure I don't start the kit without everything current and up to date.
  2. I thought so, just wanted to be sure. Thanks for the info!
  3. Yeah, I got that part, and actually the edges are surprisingly clean compared to some laser-cut wood kits I've seen. But I meant the main flat surface of the pieces, if those need to be sanded or left raw, and if so, if it's easiest to do the first pass while they're on the sprue still.
  4. So I just got my first kit on the mail (Caldercrafts Snake), and I had a quick question about sanding. For wooden parts that will be showing in the finished product, should they be sanded while they're still on the sprue, perhaps with a sanding block or gentle use of a palm sander, or left in their "raw" state? I'm still doing a lot of research, so I'm not even sure if these parts are sanded at all on their flat surfaces, or left raw for effect.
  5. I'm thinking of picking up the HMS snake myself. Looking at Caldercrafts online PDF instructions for some of their other ships (since Snake's instructions don't seem to be available on their website), there's a list of paints, finishes, and other materials in the manual that they recommend to finish the model. If there's a similar list in the Snakes manual, could I ask a tiny favour for you to maybe snap a pic of the list, or transcribe it here in a post? I'd like to buy everything in one go, rather than buy the kit, read the list, and then have to make a second buy of all the supplies.
