  1. This render shows the mighty plugin for C4D "Infinite Ocean". It just puts an ocean carpet into the camera angle and saves plenty of resources. And yes there is also the "flame" which is usually cut off at the top of the screen ...
  2. Never thought about it. All the boats are 1:1 depictions of the drawings in the book "Anatomy of the ship PANDORA" by McKay & Coleman. It was my primary source as it is most likely for all other 3D and "analog" "Pandora projects". The effort to built these boats was higher than building the hull of Pandora itself. Especially the planks took an endless time ...
  3. Here two massive renders ... up to three days rendering each on a computer with 8 cores:
  4. Another much progressed render. Ocean is better and the deck now has people on it. Quality is HD ...
  5. Here comes a setting that has the hull. Set in an infinite ocean. "Infinite Ocean" is also the name of a specific plugin for cinema 4D. It creates the ocean carpet with the view to the distant horizon. All with minimal resource consumption. I am currently working on a setting with some of my animated crew members.
  6. ... I had not published it ... now it should work.
  7. And one smaller snippet of a bigger thing to come ...
  8. Well ... there are ... moments. Expect to see it in motion soon.
  9. According to ... "The 24-gun Frigate Pandora (Anatomy of the Ship)" by John McKay and Ron Coleman ... yes.
  10. Some progress with the mizzenmast sails ... https://youtu.be/P6tBSuZWJ0A
  11. A partial integrationtest with some improvements ... http://youtu.be/K0874KlctD8
  12. Revisited the topic of ... sails.., and did apply some techniques from the garment simulation ... video: http://youtu.be/Hq1giFJprLE
  13. A very short test. Showing the first real inclusion of an animated character in the main scenery. From a distance you see the boatswain walking in front of the boats. Also introducing a fantastic plugin in cinema 4D: "Infinite Ocean". It expands the ocean view to the horizon with minimal impact on resources due to synchronization to the camera. The right thing just in time as all my animated characters are horrible resource eaters... http://youtu.be/DWIUACprZRU
  14. A boatswain here ... https://youtu.be/eIFQ0zXzrdY
  15. Finalized with buttons and everything .... https://youtu.be/Zz9Se2NXW0M
  16. mtaylor, twintrow, thanks for recognizing the animation. Actually I am using three programs (Cinema 4D, Marvelous Designer and DAZ Studio) and quite some effort goes into mastering the workflow between them. Can be quite painful if a problem in step 20 brings you back to step 3 after a day of work ... As far as the about face is concerned ... I have no clue if it is authentic. I think it looks convincing somehow ... motion capture data is quite hard to get. There are some sources in the web but most of it is useless. Most mocap data has the problem of "sliding feet". I am composing the movement from little libraries in DAZ studio, that I adapt and re-mix to my needs. This is the best I was able to get out of it. More to follow ...
  17. It is achieved. Praise the lord! This was really hard. Still WIP though ... myriads of buttons need to be added ... some work but not a challenge https://youtu.be/crEV85KyoDA
  18. Yes there is room for optimization ... meanwhile I am trying to put together what I have ...
  19. And here we have him ... body coordinated with fittings. Will have to be married now with the cloth simulation ...
  20. This will finally come but the ship deck will have to be populated properly with multiple characters. So a long way to go still. I am currently working on attaching multiple fittings (sabre, belts, shell pouch, musket...) to a marine which requires some research and testing ...
  21. My royal marine had a good start and comes along nicely ... the most complex figure so far. Current WIP here:
  22. My captain has his reign on the quarterdeck now ... a much cleaner animation. The model is complete except of the hat which comes next. A higher level of complexity will come with a royal marine soon ...
