    Hello, I've been lurking and reading some excellent recommendations on this site. All feedback has been appreciated and has helped in my first ship build. I have done my fair share of plastic models as a younger person, and more recently HO and N modeling in railroad. I recently picked up a vintage scientific Cutty Sark model at the local thrift store. So this is my first attempt at a wooden ship model. I am probably 90% complete after two weeks of work and am very satisfied with my piece. I have just completed the standing rigging, and just now attaching sails and running rigging. Anyways, just wanted to say hello, and I look forward to learning as much as I can about this wonderful hobby.

The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.

The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build.
