  1. Corsaro II by Corel

Picked   up this beautiful kit from my new friend out of Montreal.   @rshousha  Rick has had this model on the shelf for the past 10 + years and wanted to find someone who would take her to completion.  I have accepted that challenge and so here she is completed.

  2. Robert E. Lee Steamboat - Bluejacket Shipcrafters - 3/32” to 1’

THE   LEGEND OF THE ROBERT E. LEE

The Robert E. Lee Steamboat was nicknamed the "Monarch of the Mississippi" and built in New Albany, Indiana   in 1866 for a price of $200,000. The grand steamboat was 297 feet by 49 feet. While the name was being painted on the ship it was moved   over to the Kentucky shore as some Hoosiers resented the name of the rebel leader being used.
On June 30, 1870 the steamboat left New Orleans in a race against the Natchez to St. Louis.  At the time the Natchez was the then-current speed record holder.  The Henry Tate, MayFlower, Mary Alice and Tahlequah preceded the two steamboats up the river for a way with excursionists in order to be able to view the race. The Robert E. Lee won with the time of 3 days, 18 hours, 14 minutes.
She was eventually dismantled in Jeffersonville, Indiana, in the spring of 1876, to build the Robert E. Lee (2nd).

  3. The Dory by Laughing Whale 1” = 1’

This model represents a classic 12 foot Dory. This is typical of the small boats used in fishing and lobstering in years past. The Dory was used to fish a limited number of traps from Maine’s downeast lobster ports. The Dory can be seen stacked on the decks of many a Grand Banks fishing schooner.

I picked this vintage kit up on eBay, it was a lot of fun to build. Enjoy!

  8. Charles W. Morgan - Vintage Marine Model Company

Charles W. Morgan  is an American whaling ship built in 1841 that was active during the 19th and early 20th centuries. Ships of this type were used to harvest the blubber of whales for whale oil which was commonly used in lamps.  Charles W. Morgan  has served as a museum ship since the 1940s and is now an exhibit at the  Mystic Seaport  museum in  Mystic, Connecticut . She is the world's oldest surviving (non-wrecked) merchant vessel and the only surviving wooden whaling ship from the 19th century American merchant fleet, which at one time numbered 2,700 vessels.     The Morgan was designated a  National Historic Landmark  in 1966.

This was my first wood ship model of the caliber. Rescued from eBay this vintage kit was very challenging. The blueprints were copyrighted 1939 representing the CW Morgan as she was enshrined at the estate of C olonel  Green in 1935.
