Both the model and display stand are outstanding. They really compliment each other.
Thank you very much.

What a beautiful model! And as already mentioned by fellow modelers, your sails are superb! What are they made of? At that 1:100 it is not so easy to find a material that scales well.
Thomas
Thanks. The sails are made of batiste (very fine cotton or silk) and are dipped in hot starch and formed when cooled. Taut sails are made by dipping in hot starch, stretching on the frame and weighting with epoxy resin casting. Heller's set includes plastic sails that I used to make resin casts. The resin is heavy enough to tighten the sails, but with smaller sails it can be additionally loaded during forming. Instead of starch, you can use hairspray, but the hairspray dries too quickly during molding, but you can use it to stiffen the sails after shaping.

Oh I will add: please consider having professional photos taken, it merits it.

Thank you. You are extremely polite. Unfortunately, my professional work means that for three years I have not had time to make a display case, so it stands and gets dusty.

Love the sails. Very hard to do without them looking off. I think you knocked it out the park.
Thanks. I tried to make the sails using the old technique, stiffening them with hot starch and forming them when they cooled down. I took pictures of "L'Hermione" as a model.

I especially like all her Regalia, the flags, ensigns and pennants displayed everywhere they can be hoisted! Needless to say, your sails are impressive, both furled and set.
Thank you. It was my first model after 30 years. I tried to make the sails using the old technique, stiffening them with hot starch and forming them when they cooled down. I took pictures of "L'Hermione" as a model.

Great model. Is the compass rose inlaid? Looks beautiful.
Thank You. Yes, You right. This is the compass rose or wind rose made with inlay and varnished.

Dear Sal.
Thank you for your kindness. I do what I do for fun. Age is no problem if you do it because you enjoy it. I was 40 when I first went to the track on a motorbike and was twice as old as the others, but I enjoyed it. Today I'm too old to race, but model making has no age limit.
Best regards, Piotr
