    Lots of good advise, thanks again. I am from Calgary, Alberta, Canada. There are no shops or stores that carry ship models and tools here. Can someone advise me on where (on-line) that I can get a good selection of tools that are moderately priced? Hope this question is allowed on here.

    Hello hobbyists. I am brand new to this hobby and cant wait to get started. Most hobby shops and suppliers are not overly helpful in my experience, so I am delighted to find this forum. I am looking for some guidance on a couple questions. 1. Any suggestions for books to help me learn the hobby? 3. Tools, glues, accessories. Any suggestions on what glues, tools, accessories that I should have on hand to get started? The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.

The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build.
