    New Member and have only built 1 kit which had 5mm planks. Decided to get adventurous and build Anteo which had plans available, and I used 10mm planks. This created some difficulty and probable gave me more problems than if I had used say 6-8 mm planks. Is there any guide?, or is it personal preference?. Great site, and looking forward to much browsing and learning. Just turned 79 and wanted a hobby that was a little challenging, and I think I have found it. Cheers!!

The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.

The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build.
