Hi my Name is Andreas, I am 62 years old and live in Germany. I am ship model builder since I was 15, beginning with wooden sailing ships (17th century) then changing to more modern ships due to a allergic reaction to wood dust. My interests here are pre WW1 ironclads about 1890 t0 1914. I build every scale from 1:100 to 1:350. Maybe you watch my 2025 work, the 1:350 Russian Zessarewich in realistic grey and the same vessel as it is exposed in St.Petersburg Marine Museum . The third model will show the "Deutschland" from 1906, German pre-dreadnought based on a Trumpeter kit.
My actual project is the the 1:350 USS Chester, a light pre-war cruiser coming from a Chinese manufacturer. I painted it in white with derk yellow superstructure (tropical design) and I am not sure how to paint some details, for example railings, stairs, boat davits and upper decks (grey or corticene coated?). Maybe someone knows how these ships details have to look like?
Have to see first wht is up on this platform and see all the other works and projects.
Greetings from Bielefeld, Germany

Whoa! Fascinating models! Congrats!!! 😲👍
(When you photograph your models, place your camera on a tripod, set it to "A" (Aperture Priority mode - if your camera has such an option and set the aperture to a smallest opening (biggest number your camera allows). The camera automatically will choose appropriate shutter speed for the set aperture value. This way, pretty much everything you photograph will come out nice and sharp!)Thomas
