  1. Hello everyone! Final stretch with the frame construction. Frames 46-58 are finished. Only 4 more to go. Regards Andreas
  2. Thank you so much, Albert, for your help. I actually missed that passage in Boudriot's Band.
  3. Hello! This kit reminds me of when I built the Alert. Therefore, I'm following your build with great interest and am curious to see what you create with the kit. I wish you continued success! Andreas
  4. Hello everyone! Thank you so much for your kind words and interest. 😉 The construction of the frames is progressing well. I have a quick question for everyone. It concerns the infill pieces between the frames that have a drainage groove. These positions aren't marked on the plans. However, I assume the A'rtésien also had them. Is there a specific arrangement or position for these drainage grooves? Source: La Vaisseau de 74 Canons J. Boudriot Have a great weekend everyone! Regards Andreas
  5. Hello everyone! Happy New Year 2026 to all! 😉 The frames that have already been made have been sanded to size at the level of the sternboard. Now it's time to make the remaining frames all the way to the stern. Regards Andreas
  6. Hello everyone! Thank you so much for your kind comments, I'm very pleased and motivated! I've continued transferring the waterline plan. The frames have also been transferred to it, the sheer board has been cut out, and everything has been aligned. This (hopefully) provides a good foundation for setting the frames. I wish everyone a happy new year and good health! Regards Andreas
  7. Thank you so much for the kind and encouraging words, and I'm very grateful to be a part of this wonderful forum! I absolutely love this hobby and enjoy being able to share it with you all.
  8. Hello everyone! First of all, thank you so much for your likes and interest. Chris, thank you for your motivation. I found your work on this excellent, as well as your entire build log. Continuing with the cleats, which are now finished. For a first attempt, I'm very happy with the result. The finishing touches will be done during sanding with the frame. Regards Andreas
  9. Hello everyone! Thank you so much for your positive Feedback:) The eight forward double frames have been completed. Before I continue with the frames, I want to finish the bow section and attach the sternpost. So, it's time for the cleats. This is my first time doing this; let's see if I can manage it properly. Regards Andreas
  10. Hello everyone! Here's another quick update: Frames 1-31 are finished, and frames 1 and 2 have already been pre-painted. Best regards Andreas
  11. Mike, thank you so much for your praise and your interest in my project. This is the second ship I've built using only the plans. My first scratch-built model was the La Vénus in 1:72 scale. You can find a link to it in the first Artésien report. Regards, Andreas
  12. Hi Tobias! Thanks so much for your kind words. Tackling the Artésien in 1:36 scale was a great decision 🙂 I'm really looking forward to seeing your progress again. Best regards, Andreas
  13. Hello everyone! Thank you so much for your likes and your interest in my project. First up is the construction of the double frames. Best regards Andreas
  14. Hello everyone! Thank you so much for all the likes and comments on this new project. Work has continued on the counter keel, the sternpost with its false sternpost, and the fillet chord with the upper transom. The rabbet joint has been cut and milled. Further work will then be done on the frames. Here is a size comparison to the Venus model at a scale of 1:72. Best regards Andreas
  15. Hello everyone! I've been registered here for quite some time, browsing and marveling at this fantastic forum. Now I've decided to share my new project with you all. My name is Andreas, I'm 40 years old, and I live in beautiful Bavaria, Germany. Model building in general has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, and at some point, I became fascinated by shipbuilding. I started with a kit of the Lady Nelson, followed by the HMS Fly. I then switched to frame-based kits... and built the HMS Alert. I realized I wanted to move away from kits and build my ships exclusively from plans. This February, the time had come, and I began building the La Vénus in 1:72 scale, using plans from Ancre. The project was completed last week. And now the next voyage begins! For several weeks now, even during the construction phase of the Vénus, my next project was already planned, and I acquired the plans and materials. I'm excited to share this project with you. The initial work was completed this week. If you've previously built on a 1:72 scale, you'll be literally overwhelmed by the size of this ship... The primary material is pear wood.
