  1. New England Pinky

This pinky is a heavily kit-bashed version of Model Shipways' Glad Tidings. I wanted to portray it as a working boat rather than as a personal pleasure craft. Build time was about 4 months with a few breaks along the way. Pictures of the build are available on www.modelboatyard.com

  2. Chesapeake Bay Head Boat

This is a Chesapeake Bay charter fishing boat. They charge "by the head" hence the name. The scale is 1:16 - the model is about 32" long overall. It is not a model of a specific boat, but I was inspired by a real boat named Miss Violet moored at Kent Island, MD. There are progress pics from the build on my website - modelboatyard.com

  3. Round-stern Workboat Stern Cutaway

This cutaway model of the stern section of a Chesapeake Bay round-stern workboat is based on plans in Workboats of Smith Island by Paula Johnson. I built a full model of the boat back in 2017 but I always thought it would be interesting to build a cutaway of the stern to show how the boat was constructed. It was a short project - just two weeks - but it was a lot of fun. The scale is 1:16.

There are images of the construction process here - http://modelboatyard.com/rscutaway.html

  4. Boatshop Diorama

I worked on this diorama off and on between other models. First time I've made a diorama and it was a lot of fun! I love making little details. Scale is roughly 1:16 although most things were made by rack of eye as the old-time Chesapeake Bay boat builders would say.

  5. Chesapeake Bay Flattie - ca. 1890

This model is based on lines by Howard I. Chapelle in his book American Small Sailing Craft (pg. 311). Started July 2017 & completed Nov. 2017. The original boat was 27' 5-1/4" between perpendiculars. Model is built to a scale of 3/4"=1' and is about 21-1/2" long.

Photos of the model under construction are available at http://www.modelboatyard.com/flattie.html

  6. Emma C. Berry - Model Shipways Kit

I started this kit in 2005 but only got the frames installed on the keel before I realized I was in over my head at the time. Started it up again just before Christmas, 2015 and completed it at the end of April 2015.
