Does anyone know if the larger Spanish man-o-wars' used mesh/ rigging on the sides of the decks, like the Victory, to store the crews hammocks during the day?

Did the Spanish ships have their name on the transom ( also like the "Victory")

Bigboris,

The answer to your first question is YES they did. The second question is not clear: some had a wooden plate with the name and some more or less elaborate ornamentation on the plate borders like the one you see in some french ships. Other ships had the initials of the ship intermingled forming a figure. The links below hopefully will help resolve any doubts you have about the Nepomuceno:
