Started this build 2 months ago. I am up to painting. I decided not to paint it within its time table 1850-1900 but to celebrate the 250th USA anniversary. Please excuse the color scheme for not being historically correct. Since I am new to this website. I am about to start stepping the mast and add the sails. I will post my progress. Enjoy.

Test fitting the mast to the star in the fore deck to make sure the red foot base lines up correctly with the blue star. Also preparing to mount the hinged rudder after painting. Filling a small screw up in the rudder with Model Lite. I am using the center board access to support work on and paint the model. Please excuse my cluttered work area but it works for me. In the background is the  Armed Virginia Sloop by Model Shipways 1/48 scale. Since I am new to this forum I haven’t posted that build yet.IMG_2617.thumb.jpeg.a147e04ccefc58c04abdd854bc9899a5.jpegIMG_2638.thumb.jpeg.34df96d4c9fd802597d5bf096fde550f.jpegIMG_2639.thumb.jpeg.f436628971e6f065ab6ef04f3bc8d2c0.jpeg

Can’t have a crab boat without a crab trap. To solve the problem today I built one to 1/20 scale. Since I am building the ship to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the USA I  am debating upgrading the sails to Ripstock Nylon. Basically i am building a vintage model ship to modern standards (but I am definitely having a great time).

Need to build a crab trap buoy for the trap tomorrow. We shall see how it turns out.IMG_2685.thumb.png.9e42ee4e6afde3abeb52be8c918b0488.png

Not much time to work on my model ship today but I did manage to make an emergency paddle for times of no wind or to move to the crab traps. I will post the finished paddle tomorrow and hopefully the crab trap float.

As always Best RVB
