This is stunning! You've done such a gorgeous job! Looking forward to seeing the rest :)

Haven't been on since before the holidays and I'm happy to come back to such great inspiration to continue.

Thank you so much, Ellie

I'm glad you're back! You have such a good start going. I can't wait to see what you create

Hey both of yous get.back to work so I can follow your  builds. Terry and Ellie both of your builds are coming along great!!  Terry good news I should be starting Bluenose next week now that i finished Bluenose repair from the 30lb rampaging rouge Maine Tabby Coon and as soon  as the Snorting Bull Emblems  come in and are applied ( coming in Monday ) to U-47 Conning Tower. Up to around 1941 German subs did not carry #’s  (until  around the time the US was entering the war)  only  carried Emblems. Finding the decals short of fabricating the antenna was the toughest part of the build.  As said before get back to work.

Terry I am Getting ready to start Bluenose build and getting excited. Separated all little bags into compartments in the Plano Case. Nothing I hate more than looking for parts in that dam round container Model Shipways puts them in. This container is great because the separators can be adjusted to size. Will start the builds as soon as I totally finish U-47. All it needs is to be mounted and  Snorting Bull emblems on the conning tower. I was hoping they would come In tomorrow but I found out tomorrow is a holiday so  I should finish it some day this week and then start Bluenose.

@Admiral Rick  i wish I was as organized as you. I go hunting for parts as needed which can be an annoying chore.

The Plano Case is cheep and you can arrange it any way you want. I used to hunt thru that dam plastic container and swear then I finally looked for an answer and when I found this case it worked out perfectly. This morning it took about 15 minutes to put all the parts in it and I am ready to start. Remember when I sent you the wheel well I have 4 containers that hold 100s of parts. These containers I got at Walmart for $7. If  any of my U-47 crew need something they can’t find, message me I might have it and Peter on eBay is also a great source. I look on eBay under model ship parts lot and if I see a lot very very very reasonable I will buy it  When ever I am in a build and I drop a part (the last one) I can usually find a replacement in one of the containers.

Build update:

Progressing slowly.

-drilled all holes in the deck using the included template. I was a little nervous to drill holes along the outer hull rails but it went very smoothly.

Had to make up 29 stropped blocks to attach to the deck for rigging. After a lot of searching for stropping methods I settled on a method inspired by Olha Batchvarov in one of her YouTube videos. My methed differs where she used thin black line or thread and I used 32 guage black annealed wire. And her results were much better than mine. But good enough.

I made a tying jig with a drill bit into a block of wood.

- I built up deck structures using the supplied laser cut pieces except for the roofing which I replaced with walnut pieces.

I didn't cut openings for skylights and windows. I may paint black under the skylight and window brass grates to simulate openings. We'll see.

I covered the sides of the structures with left over walnut planking.

-Installed the brass hand railing.

In the following pics nothing is glued down.

Hey Mark.. Glad you're back. Thanks on the Endeavour. No big deal if it's to be painted. I want to leave it natural so I think it looks a little better. Hope you had some good catches in Outer Banks. Did you get a striper?

I'll be looking forward to two weeks in Florida around that time. Need to thaw out

Terry,

We changed plans and headed to Florida after Xmas (Cape San Blas), it is a lot warmer there. We will be down there until the beginning of April (currently home in VA to get a few things taken care of. Heading back out in a couple of weeks). I didn't get any stripers but a lot of whiting. Good eatin' fish right there!

GOOD LUCK! Setting goals definitely helps except when you don’t meet them. Many times I have been on both sides of goal setting and I am sure you have to.
