Bowsprit Bees, what they are? (edited by admin)

The "planks" labelled c are the bees

They were called bees because originally they looked like the letter B with two apertures.  The  topmast stays passed through the apertures.

 

So they were fitted to the end of the bowsprit.

By Bowsprit  I mean the spar attached to the ship.  The Jib Boom which extended the bowsprit was fitted above the Bee position.

 

So the Jib Boom sat on the saddle G and passed through the Bowsprit cap A .
