What size/scale are you looking for?  There's a variety of braided line available in lots of colors, even camo, at hardware stores and such - parachute or para cord.  I'm not sure how small that gets.  I think there's some modern model yacht companies that sell smaller stuff.

A quick search of "braided model yacht line" got me:

You use a few colored threads and do a round sennit to make stuff that's very small.
