I was thinking of picking up this model and doing it for my uncle, he served on the Antietam during the gulf war.

My question is, is this a quality model or am I going to be doing a lot of filling and fitting. I am just getting back into modeling and am not familiar with this company.

The Minicraft kit has fit issues with the superstructure.  The Dragon kit is better.  If your 1/350 is not too big, the Trumpeter kit is good.

I actually purchased it, only gave 12.00 for it. I really disn't want to go with a 1/350 because I will be giving this as a gift and I'm not sure he would have a space for one of that size. it was an opportunistic purchase

Overall the Minicraft kit isn't bad, its just that that there are seams that need to be filed and filled on the superstructure, and be sure to test fit fit.
