I took a break from the Perry to research what rigghing lines that can be added that are not included in the Bluejacket instructions, such as the bunt and lift lines.
I was interrupted by the chance to build a Swift Pilot Boat of 1805 which, I won at the Northeast Show.
As a member of the USS Constitution Model Shipwright Guild (USSCMSG), I won this 1/50th scale kit at the 2025 Northeast Joint Conference, donated by the New Jersey Model Ship Club. I set aside this model until, at a recent meeting of our Guild, I saw an article on Building the Swift pilot boat of 1805 by Gilbert McArdel in the Ship Modelers Handbook, Spring 2025. This inspired me to build the Swift, which I completed.
Returning to the Perry, while stepping the masts I realized 40 more belaying pins, With the generosity of fellow Guild member, Peter Czulak he used a Elegoo Mars 5 ultra desktop 3D printer
to make the extra belaying pins
needed for this 1/8th model Bluejacket USS Perry model
.
Now back to the model
