Angarfather got a reaction from tarbrush in Golden Hind ex Pelican by Angarfather - 1:36
Next steps was to make the guns
At first I changed the brass into bronze by painting it with acrylic (old gold mixed with black)
And than the wooden parts.
Milling the side panels of the gun carriadges.
Side panels and other parts after cutting by band saw and sanding
First attempt
Making the axis and the weels
The first finished gun
A board
At
At last for today I had to modell 4 swivel guns for the stern. There were 4 guns from an older project. So it was easy to me to modify they into swivels.
Cheerio!

Aye, Mates,
many thanks for your kind interest in my new project.
I am building the hull in an unusual way. Instead of a first planking I glue in plywood between the bulkheads. Than I had to sand it into its shape. Here are some pics from this way.
This construction results in a very stable hull. Next. I'll plan the material for the wales, the keel and the deck beams. I still have a few pieces of mahagony that will work well for that. The planks I will make from pear. That can look pretty good together.

I have started the next project, an elizabethanian galleon.
I use some plans I did find in two old german modeling books, Mondfeld, Historische Schiffsmodelle, a german classic from the early 70., and Stoeckel,Risse von Schiffen des 16. und 17. Jahrhunderts. Both authors showed very similar plans of an elizabethanian galleon, named Golden Hind or ex Pelican. It may be a model of Drakes Golden Hind. How Golden Hind looked exactly is unclear. But I like the plans, and they also seems quite right for the type Galeone of the english sailors in the time of queen Elizabeth Tudor.
Fist step was to modify the slipway. For the aligning of the frames on the keel plate I use a cross line laser
The plans
The bulkheads
Mounting of the bulkheads on the keel plate
The shipyard guard (named Michel ) after work

Angarfather reacted to DanB in Muscongus Bay Lobster Smack by DanB - FINISHED - Model Shipways - 1:24
I have been working on the rails over the past few days
Toe Rails and Rub rails.
The instructions say to steam the toe rails. I used the model shipways plank bender and that worked really well, adjusting the bend to fit the hull a bit at a time.
The optional holes in the toe rails were a challenge, to get shaped. I used a 55 bit, followed by the small saw blade I used for the Pram and then needle files. I still could not get them to the oval shape in the instructions but I came close. The size was a guess based on the pictures in the manual.
Fairleads and Samson post
The post did nto fit well and I had to file the hole and sand the post. I still managed to break the below deck part twice trying to fit it in
Oar lock pads—Look thinner in the pictures in instructions than the supplied pieces. I sanded the bottoms down a bit after shaping them
More filling and sanding on the hull.
I had bit more time tonight and soaked the coaming in hot water and then used the plank bender to get the curves about right. It’s drying out clamped in its space in the boat overnight getting ready for tomorrow’s adventures, cutting the slot in it for the tiller, painting, the outside and gluing it in
The instructions don’t seem to say anything about finishing the deck. It seems like that should happen now before adding the coaming and cabin. I think I am going to sand it lightly and give it a couple of light coats of WOP or use an oil finish before adding more to the deck.

Angarfather got a reaction from popash42 in Statenjacht Utrecht by Angarfather - 1:36
It had been a wonderfull sommer. Two journeys to Danmark, two most interesting jobs and last but not least the birth of my seventh grandchild, Richard.
Therefore there was no time left for modeling. That was already o k. But now its time for working on.
The windows of the pavillons frontwall. I have made it from quadrangular brass, and glued it with cyan acryl. To instal the windowpins ( 1mm brass wire) I have drilled in 1mm holes into the frames.
the bay windows of the side walls. The woodwork ( pearwood )
This frames are made from square tube (1,5 x 1,5mm)brass

To make the front wall of the pavillon was very fiddly. At first I have made some decorations for the pillars.
Next were some test pieces for the infills.
After some more training in makeing this parts this is the way I will make them all.
But now it's closing time in the dockyard for the next two weeks. Holidays in Danmark!

First step for building the Stern was this rail. It will be the base for the counter and the stern. Its a very big rail but it will be the base for the decorations.
To make this rail in one operation was a little bit complicated. Therefore I have made it in to steps. First the big one, and than the smal decorationrail.

Thanks to Patrick and all the likes!!
@Patrick It depends on whether I find a suitable tool. Otherwise I make my own scrapers.
I have used this tool to make the profile rails.
The mainrail is 2mm. For this job I have made a scraper by myself.
This day I have finished the bullwark on maindeck.

Many thanks for all your kind words
Frist I had some problems to make the bricks. I tryed to model they from wood, but that looks like firewood for the fireplace. At last I remembered a forgotten box with restovers from railway modelling long time ago. And in it I found three varietys of brickwall paper. Exactly what I was looking for.
And this is the coloured fireplace. I did use Oxid of Chromium (green) Raw Sienna and Van Dyk Brown. As a friend of mine ( his is an restorer himself) says are this colours which are used for such decorations in the baroque.

@aviaamator: the right diameter should be 1,5277 mm. First I have made the handle from 1,6mm brass. But that doesn't look good to my eyes, therefore I have made it from 2mm
We had a wonderfull Christmas Evening and Christmas Day with our children and six grandchildren. And so its good to grandfather to relax some times in the dockyard before the next celebration will start in the evening.
Now some pictures from modelling the fireplace.
Tomorrow I will look for the right colour. It will be a specuial green.

Many thanks to Piet and Mark and all the "Likes".
Aproblem to me: the curtains of the alcove. Fortunately my Admiral is a very good tailor herself. Therefore it was no problem to her to make the curtains from light green silk. To install they it into the alcoves was my job. No,to work with textil isn't a pleasure to me.
The next problem. There was no red velvet for the matresses in the workshops store. But my Admiral recommeded to take the dark blue. And, so she said, it is of good quality.
A merry Christmas and a happy new year to all from

The upper part of the cup board.
In the next few days I still get some dishes . Then the door can get ist the handle and the hinges.
Under the LED Light in my dockyard the colours looks absolute terrible, I think.
