Sorry to read about your unfortunate incident Mark, I put these occasions down as salutary lessons to be learnt from. But the positive thing to come out of this is, others may learn from your incident. Although I am sure that was not the first thing on your mind.

Thank you Grant, there are a few niggling little faults with 3 of the frames, which I see every time I look at it, so best to redo it. So as you say better in the long run.

Well I have at least 6 weeks to ponder on the frames, but I think along the same lines as you Joss. If one is not happy now, time will only intensify ones feelings. But looking on the positive side it will be a good exercise for the fingers.

Hi Paddy, I am lucky enough to have all of Jim Byrnes lovely tools except the rope walk, and like most people have nothing but the greatest respect for what he makes, they are amazing.

You will not be disappointed they are both great pieces of kit..........enjoy.

where she stands at this moment, but i am not to happy with her, so may re-do it when hand back to normal.

and of course the hand, severed the tendon on middle finger and nicked the other two(middle finger had micro surgery to fix  it). Bet the surgeon would be good at doing the rigging on our models.

Hi Tony, I dont know if it will be of any help, but I have a Byrnes saw and the prices of blades from across the pond are as you know expensive. What I have done is obtained HSS Slitting blades from EBAY there seems to be a varied amount. I have purchased some 3" 1/64 kerf 150 tooth blades for less than £10.00 .There might be something that fits a Proxxon saw there. Hope it helps.

 Hi folks,

Cross section coming along, but have had an accident with my right hand (and yes of course I am right handed) sliced through three fingers. Two stitched back together, middle finger cut through tendon having operation tomorrow to sort it out.

And before you ask it was not model related, I was helping a friend out.

Will try and down load photos when I can, but left hand not the most dextrous in the world.

Hi Ed, when you say "push drill" I am assuming it is an Arcamedies type drill ? and when you bolt the iron knees onto the ships timber I am again assuming that the fixing hole is smaller than the bolt size, and if so by how much ?

The Keel and Keelson are Steamed Pearwood and the False Keel is Walnut.

The Pearwood was obtained from Timberline and the Walnut I think I obtained from Charnwood some time in the past.

I also bought from Timberline at the same time a block of Lemonwood to do the frames in (Hopefully)
