Your build is looking good. I have learned a lot by reading your build log. Your project is moving along fast which is good because you will stay ahead of me. My KoM build is better thanks to your comments. I will keep you posted.

I have been so impressed with the modeling on MSW that I decided to join in on the experience of building a wooden ship. I really like steamboats and saw somewhere that the AL King of the Mississippi is one of the better kits but as I am finding out they all have their problems.  My kit arrived a few days ago and I am already needing the advice found here on this site. I have enjoyed and learned a lot by reading the build logs.
 
Before stating my current problem, let me state my ambitions for my KoM. I like the exquisite models with varnish and polished brass but I want to try make it look like it has been "down the river" a few times. I love the interior lights so I am going to try that. Being familiar with 1:87 in model railroading (HO scale) I am going to shift many of the modeling details about 10% and use what is available from local model train hobby shops. And lastly, with great apprehension, I am going to motorize the paddlewheel.
 
Starting with photos the full contents of the kit, followed by a couple of shots of the hull, a close look at the bow.
 
The two side bulkheads don't want to meet a the point of the bow. More sanding seems to distort the bulkheads.
What am I doing wrong here? What do I need to do before I start the hull planking? I can knock it apart if I have to but I would rather not if there is another way to do this.

i have started on the paddle wheel it  i took the wood of the wheel and saved the ends of them as u see in the pic to me it just looks way better this way so far it looks just great let me know what u all think         
    

ok here in this pic i did the big window witch i did not use the wood in the kit  .i changed it and made my own . i think its looks ways better let me know what u all think

Just an experiment done with some paint and a window in color.
I like the color of the glass,it is not bad and I think I'm about to leave it.
 

 

 
All this thanks to my friend WORKLIGHT, otherwise with this kind of things it is almost impossible. (at least for me  )
 

Ole speedy finished six planks on each side. First, the gun ports slowed me down, now I have to bevel the back edges of the planks so they can round the bend on the way to the keel. I also have to angle the vertical bulkheads to fit the fore and aft bend. It's a lot of measure, cut, file, sand....then measure again, and cut, file, sand until it just slips into place real nice. So far I'm happy with the results thanks to all your tips and suggestions.

hello spencer iam trying to do the best that i can this kit has had warped parts its just how it is it does happen i just worked with what i had and i know i did a great job so far for b a vary frist wood kit that i have ever done  and yes pop adrieke help me a lot on the build  hes a great guy

Had been a while but here again a few pictures of the progress.
 
In this deck the veneer applied to the wall and the recesses for the windows made ​​smaller because the windows are much smaller than the recesses.

yes pop it is thay call it  herringbone pattern not fun to do i dont like it at all i was going to do the same as the frist deck to make it all the same thats just my thot  but this where iam now work state room so far looking real good and going really well here some pic

yes adrieke i did bend it how i did it was put in hot water for 30mins  then  bend used take to hold it while it was drying the put glue on it then tape to hold till it was done and never did break frist try and np 

The past week the 2nd deck planking lists put around it, it's just a shame you can not see 80% of the deck later :(

tys u so much popeye  took a long ime to get it done but the out come was great  now on to the next step
