  1. Hi Chuck,

I always enjoy the photos of your vessels, a wonderful learning experience.

You may have thought of this......

To obtain the best photographic effect of your master works I suggest you consider using only downlights to avoid all shadows.  This lighting scheme prevents shadows cast by masts, ratlines, rigging, booms, etc.

Your new shop has plenty of room for good lighting of your work.

    My two cents!

  2. Hi,

Your  vessel reminds me of a Santa Maria I saw  in a maritime museum in Dubrovnik. Beautifully done!  Lots to learn from your model.

  3. HI,

I enjoyed looking at your Santa Maria this morning. You did a beautiful job building the vessel. Your rigging is so precise and the sails look authentic. Looking forward to your nex build!

  4. Thanks Hakan,

The key to my photos is 100% downlight. NO flash, no side light. The object rests on a 3' wide piece of white paper that also is behind the object, e.g. paper up 3' on the wall. That way I get a seamless background.

The background shadow is because the down lights hit a shelf which reduces the amplitute of the light behind the object being photographed.

My thought is my photos, though clear, appear a bit sterile but are good to review details on the vessel, me thinks.

Your photography is always good as well. Warmer than mine for sure.

    Take care Brother,

    David
