I totally agree with shipman. Boxwood rules are great and do not forget the 'lead dressers tools'. These used to be fair sized lumps of boxwood.
I also suggest that the old spools and reels from woolen and cotton mills (if you can find them!)

Bought mine yesterday ( £29.99) with 6 abrasive Velcro type pads in 3 grades at Lidl, Wincanton, Somerset. UK.
They seem to be going fast.
Of late there has been lots of good value goodies for sale. A couple of weeks ago i bought a Scrollsaw which was a rebadged Sheppach to their own brand of Parkside.
It had variable speed and foot control all for £69 sterling. A saving of about £50 to £60
